Ad Astra Fellows in public and social policy

University College Dublin is seeking applications for 65 Ad Astra Fellows across all disciplines. Ad Astra Fellows are appointed for a five year term, with the opportunity to apply for a permanent position at the Assistant Professor/Lecturer Level after four years. Fellows have a reduced teaching load during their first three years and an annual research budget.

As part of the Ad Astra initiative, the Social Policy Division (part of the School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice) is seeking candidates with a strong empirical and theoretical focus on comparative public policy, with an emphasis on social policy. The candidate should contribute to the Master of Public Policy programme, as well as the undergraduate and doctoral programmes. The Division welcomes candidates who can complement the existing strengths in the fields of pension provision, housing, migration, family, health and drugs policy. The Social Policy Division has a very strong national and international orientation, collaborating with research groups across University College Dublin and Ireland, and with research centres in Europe, North America and Asia. Our outreach activities are particularly strong, including close engagement with public, voluntary and private sector partners at both national and international levels.

Applications

  • Applicants should have a PhD in social policy, public policy, or a related discipline (i.e. sociology, political science, law) and a record of academic publications on social or public policy issues.
  • To apply, click on the "apply now" button at the top right of the Ad Astra website.
  • Choose "Ad Astra" for the vacancy level, and the "School of Social Sciences and Law" in the "UCD School/Unit" box and then continue with the application procedure.
  • Interested candidates may contact Prof. Michelle Norris, Head of School, if they require more information (michelle.norris@ucd.ie).

The deadline for applications is 22 April 2019.
