Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Public Administration

Description of the position 

The position is financed by the department, and is associated with one of its two research groups; Governance and Leadership in the Public Sector (GOLEP). The group’s activities focus on advanced research on public institutions at all administrative levels, and the proposed postdoctoral project should be framed within the scope of (one or more of) the core themes and empirical areas of interest to the group’s permanent members. The applicants must hold a PhD degree in political science, public administration, or equivalent fields. The position places great demands on the applicant’s capacity for independent goal-oriented work, ability to concentrate and attention to detail. Applicants will be assessed on the basis of academic background and results, and any previous research and development-work. Relevant practical experience, personal suitability and good teamwork skills will also be emphasized. Short-listed applicants may be invited for interviews.

Applicants must submit a project description of no more than 10 pages including the bibliography. The project description should include a presentation of possible research questions/hypotheses, theoretical framework and a progress plan for the proposed postdoc project. An essential part of the assessment of applicants is the quality of the project description. The applicants must have good skills in English and/or a Scandinavian language.

The position is remunerated within the State salary scale, salary plan 17.515, code 1352 Post Doctor, NOK 497.000 - 565.500 gross per year. In the case of particularly highly qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered. A 2% compulsory pension contribution will be deducted and paid to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund according to current statutory provisions.
