About Brazilian Association of Political Science

The Brazilian Association of Political Science (ABCP – Associação Brasileira de Ciência Política) is a non-profit organization that brings together hundreds of researchers, professors, students, and professionals working in the field of Political Science. Since its foundation in 1986, the association has built partnerships with national and international foundations, research institutes, funding agencies, universities, and other public and private organizations. The ABCP has held biennial meetings since 1996, where researchers come together to present and discuss their research in 18 thematic areas. In 2007, the association created what has become Brazil´s most important English language political science journal, the Brazilian Political Science Review, a fully online, open access publication available on the SciELO platform. The ABCP brings together a large and diverse group of scholars responsible for constructing and maintaining Political Science as an academic field in Brazil. As a whole, this community strives towards academic and professional excellence, high ethical standards, and a commitment to democracy and to democratic institutions.
