There is deep linkage between environment, energy and mankind. This linkage is interlinked, interrelated and intertwined. Industrialization supplemented by usage of technology and excessive exploitation of natural resources across the globe had resulted in imbalance in air and water ecosystem. This imbalance could be observed from such as extreme heat wave, rising sea-levels, changes in precipitation resulting in cyclones, earthquake, flooding and droughts. These climatic changes had made worse impact on all sectors in general and agriculture in particular by increasing the vulnerabilities in food production and livelihoods of farming communities in developing countries.

These vulnerabilities due to climate change could be addressed by opting renewable energy options by introducing usage of Bio, Solar, Wind and other renewable Energy sources which are meant to reduce carbon emissions and to develop all sectors.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDG7) emphasized upon “To ensure universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services and to increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix” (Kaushik Ranjan et.al)

In the light of above, there is needed to examine the renewable energy policy formulation and implementation process, procedures, institutional mechanism at all levels of governance. There is need to explore the attempts of the governments to facilitate and promote usage of Solar and Bio energy for the Sustainable Agriculture practices.

The proposed panel will be focused on the issues and challenges of Renewable Energy policy from multidisciplinary perspective. There are multiple and complex such as renewable energy governance such as accessibility, affordability, outreach of clean energy options. An attempt will be made to discuss the various challenges which includes policy and institutional obstacles, financial and market barriers, technological blockages awareness, education and training facilities, environmental hitches and miscellaneous.

To what extent Government facilitate and promote the usage of Renewable Energy source through grants/subsidies/incentives to different sectors

How the challenges of Transition from Conventional energy to Renewable Energy be addressed.

How the renewable energy (Solar and Bio) helps to transit towards Sustainable Agriculture Green technology

What are the multidimensional strategies for policy implementation for facilitating and promoting Sustainable Agriculture with reference to Global South.

To examine the progress, trends, challenges in of renewable energy sector in India.

To bring a transition in energy sector, inclination towards Renewable Energy sources (RES) is the best solution. The panel will analyze sustainable development and renewable energy policy and implementation   from multiple aspects i.e. policy and structural mechanism, technological and socio-economic aspect and functional aspect .An attempt will be made to examine various components of renewable policy such as policies and schemes framework, their implementation, awareness programs, financial and infrastructure arrangements from central level, state level and local level.

Promoting energy efficient products and combating climate change are the integral aspects of the Governments in renewable energy planning, analysis and policy making. The proposed panel will analyses the governance mechanism in improvising the solar and bio energy in agriculture while understanding the roles, capacities and relationships among the diverse actors involved in governance process.

This panel will only accept onsite presentations.

Energy plays a significant role in the socio-economic development of India. Industrialization and excessive exploitation of natural resources have resulted in various adverse disturbances in different areas. The statistical facts and figures pinpoints towards the irreversible climatic changes.

Intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC) 2018 report on 1.5 degree Celsius states  “ that the world is in serious jeopardy due to global warming as its impact will be greater than previously anticipated if the temperature increased by 1.5 degree Celsius in the future.” The united nations have urged every nation in the world to climate change issue with sustainable development goals and to adopt usage of renewable energy sources. 

There is urgent need to transit towards renewable sources for energy generation. These sources provide adequate and good quality energy in a sustainable manner without exploiting conventional sources. Government Interventions are required to promote and implement these at all levels of governance.  The effective development of any sector is based foundation of organization and its effective governance process and procedures for strengthening the sustainable energy system which will utilize the available resources rationally.

The proposed panel will be focused on the issues and challenges of Renewable Energy policy from multidisciplinary perspective. Various dimensions related with accessibility, affordability, outreach of clean energy options will be examined.

There is also need to explore various issues and challenges on the basis of various research studies in order to find the gaps in implementation process and procedures,  to analyze the institutional mechanism and inter-sectorial coordination for promoting usage of renewable resources in global south in particular.
