 Food security and poverty alleviation become prime concern for world community in general and developing countries in particular. Despite various measures taken to alleviate the world hunger problem, food insecurity and under nutrition remain serious problems in developing countries. Achieving food security and eradicating poverty is extremely high priority in Public policy agenda of developing countries. Growing population created greater food demand but reduced crop productivity, higher food prices along with income inequalities, natural disasters and climate change adversely affected food access and availability for poor people. Solution of food insecurity and poverty can be traced in economy of developing countries. These countries are primarily agricultural economies with nearly 70% of the population engaged in agriculture. Therefore poverty alleviation and food security must be ensured through sustainable agricultural policies. Agriculture is the main driving force for developing economies, so there is a need to adopt innovative techniques to increase and diversify production of farmers and promote sustainable agricultural development. Agriculture sector needs governmental intervention through a coherent policy approach and an increase of public and private investment in sustainable agriculture. The aim of this panel is to discuss the sustainable agricultural policies and practices which ensure food security and eradicate poverty and also discuss and explore different alternative for devising a comprehensive and workable policy frame work able to address food security and poverty alleviation through sustainable agricultural practices in developing countries.

Objectives of the Panel:

1. Discuses the governmental intervention and efforts through sustainable agricultural polices to ensure food security and poverty eradication.

2. Discuss and explore different alternative for devising a comprehensive and workable policy framework of sustainable agricultural policies to address food security and poverty alleviation.

3- Understanding the main challenge in adopting sustainable agricultural policies for food security and poverty alleviation.

4. Examine the commitment and strategies of developing countries for the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to ensure food security and poverty alleviation through sustainable agricultural policies.

5. Understand a self-reliant and sustainable agriculture responsive to farmers’ need.

6. Suggest sustainable agricultural policies and practices to ensure food security and improve financial condition of farmers.

Scientific relevancy in contemporary pandemic situation food security is prime concern for all countries. Increasing world population is threat to food security and leads to increases in poverty, hunger and malnutrition in developing countries. Sustainable agricultural policies and practices are   solutions of these problems. UN Sustainable Development Goals and governmental and private sector intervention through sustainable agricultural policies are essential to ensure food security and poverty alleviation for human dignity.

Problem of Food security and poverty alleviation is at the focal point of policy agenda of all the governments of developing countries. SDGs of UN also mainly concern with food security and poverty alleviation. Agricultural economies can adopt sustainable agricultural policies and practices as solution to the food security and poverty eradication. Sustainable agriculture needs investment from public as well from private sector along with policy intervention and regulation from government. Panel will discuss the research based on sustainable agricultural policies of public and private sector, governmental intervention for sustainable agricultural practices. Researches which are based on agriculture and ensure food security and poverty alleviation in developing countries Empirical research papers will be prime concern in panel.
