In the last decades, inequality has emerged as a very significant topic affecting all the spheres of public life, and the recent crisis we are experiencing is only going to deepen it further. To date, public policies have not been able to reverse the socioeconomical problems linked to the most classic areas of inequalities, such as health or education. In this new scenario, where inequalities are spreading and diversifying the areas they affect, it seems that national governments have lost the capacity to address or even find ways to influence this reality.

Beyond the objectives directly aimed at fighting inequalities, as Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8 or SDG 11, the whole 2030 Agenda seeks for a multiactor and multilevel coordination to incorporate the principles of Inclusive and Sustainable Development into local agendas. This coordination should enrich the capabilities of national and local governments to address the social challenges they face.

This panel aims to analyse the degree of progress in the adoption and implementation of the 2030 Agenda in national or local government agendas, with the intention of debating whether new mechanisms for the dissemination and transfer of transnational policies can have any impact on the way public policies are approached.

The panel is open to proposal working on the relationship between 2030 Agenda and national or local agendas in specific areas of public policy, and learnings about such processes. The working perspective allows for any theoretical or methodological approach, with the core element being the observation of this particular transfer mechanism that is the 2030 Agenda and its commitment to the reduction of inequalities.
