This panel aims to convene leading experts in public policy and energy studies to explore the complex interplay between climate change mitigation, energy resilience, and global geopolitical shifts. We will critically examine the need for a more integrated approach to public policy, addressing both the urgent need to decarbonize our economies while simultaneously strengthening energy security and resilience in a volatile world. The global energy landscape is undergoing rapid transformation. The urgency of climate change mitigation demands a rapid transition to renewable energy sources. However, this transition is complicated by geopolitical tensions, economic instability, and the need to ensure reliable and affordable energy access for all. Traditional energy security models are insufficient in this new context, demanding innovative public policy solutions that foster energy resilience, promote sustainable development, and consider the wider social and economic impacts of the energy transition.

The research questions of the panel involve but are not limited to: How can public policy effectively integrate climate change mitigation goals with energy security and resilience in a rapidly changing global context? What are the key policy instruments and regulatory frameworks needed to facilitate the deployment of renewable energy technologies while ensuring system reliability and affordability? How can public policies address the social, economic, and geopolitical challenges associated with the energy transition, particularly in developing countries? What role can international cooperation play in promoting energy resilience and ensuring a just and equitable energy transition?

The panel will explore various hypotheses, including:

Interconnectedness: Public policy solutions for climate change and energy resilience are deeply interconnected and cannot be tackled in isolation.

Innovation and Diversification: Promoting innovation in renewable energy technologies, alongside diversification of energy sources and supply chains, is crucial for energy resilience.

Equity and Inclusion: Energy policies must prioritize equity and social justice, ensuring access to affordable and reliable energy for all, particularly in marginalized communities.

Global Cooperation: International collaboration and knowledge sharing are essential for building resilient energy systems and achieving global climate goals.

This panel invites original research papers addressing the intersection of public policy, climate change mitigation, and energy resilience, particularly in the context of global economic and geopolitical shifts. We welcome a diversity of perspectives and methodological approaches, including:

Policy Analysis: Evaluations of existing and proposed policies related to renewable energy deployment, energy efficiency, carbon pricing, or energy security.

Economic Modeling: Analysis of the economic costs and benefits of different energy transition pathways and the impact of policy interventions.

Geopolitical Analysis: Examination of how geopolitical factors shape energy policy decisions and influence energy security and resilience.

Social Impact Assessment: Studies on the social, economic, and environmental impacts of energy policies on different communities and regions.

Case Studies: In-depth analyses of specific countries or regions, highlighting successful or challenging approaches to energy transition and policy integration.

Submission Guidelines:

Abstracts of 250-300 words should be submitted by January 31th, 2025.

Accepted papers will be presented at the panel during the conference.

The panel will provide a platform for stimulating discussion and interaction among presenters and conference participants.
