Visa

Most foreign nationals traveling to Kenya require a visa. See here for a list of exempted countries. citizens of 148 countries are eligible for an electronic visa. Please note that passport holders from a number of countries(please see the list here) need to submit a paper-based application for a visa to the Department of Immigration Service. 

The electronic visas are processed in 2 business days and the cost of a single entry visa is $51.

Health

It is advisable to consult your doctor or an international vaccination center to assess your state of health and receive health recommendations, particularly regarding the necessary vaccinations before visiting Kenya.

The following vaccinations are recommended.

  1.  Yellow fever is endemic in central and western Kenya. Vaccination is strongly recommended.
  2.  Updating the diphtheria-tetanus-polio (DTP) vaccination is recommended including rubella, mumps, and measles in children.
  3.  Tuberculosis vaccination is also desirable.
  4.  Depending on local travel conditions, vaccinations against typhoid fever and viral hepatitis A and B may be recommended.
  5.  It is preferable to be vaccinated against bacterial meningitis A + C + Y + W135.
  6.  Vaccination against rabies may also be offered in some cases depending on the conditions and location. Ask your doctor or an international vaccination center for advice.
