Internship Offer – Communication & Events
IPPA is looking for an intern for a period of 4 to 6 months starting at the end of August or the beginning of September 2026 at its head office located at ENTPE - University of Lyon, France.
The International Public Policy Association (IPPA) is a non-profit organization under French law (1901 Association). Its main mission is to organize events for public policy researchers worldwide, including conferences and Seasonal Schools, and to promote their work through an academic journal (IRPP), books, and scholarly publications. IPPA currently has 24,000 users, 1,200 individual members, and 55 institutional members.
The Association is composed of three employees and is managed by a Secretary General. Decisions are made within an Executive Committee and a College. Its headquarters are located on the ENTPE university campus in Vaulx-en-Velin (2 rue Maurice Audin, 69120 Vaulx-en-Velin).
Every two years, the Association organizes a major conference (ICPP), gathering an average of 1,500 participants in a different country for each edition (most recently: Chiang Mai, Thailand, in 2025), as well as a smaller event (IWPP) attended by around 300 participants (next edition: Ottawa, Canada, in 2026).
The Association also organizes the Seasonal Schools on Public Policy, which have become its main activity outside of these two conferences. In 2026, the Seasonal Schools on Public Policy will include 10 editions across all continents: Europe: French Alps, Padua–Venice; North America: Berkeley; South America: São Paulo; Asia: Chiang Mai, New Delhi, Hong Kong; Africa: Nairobi. Each edition is co-organized with a local university or institution and gathers an average of 30 participants (mainly PhD students and postdoctoral researchers) and 2 to 3 professors.
The internship responsibilities are divided into two main areas: developing and implementing the Association’s digital communication strategy, and supporting the organization of the Seasonal Schools on Public Policy.
Development and Implementation of Digital Communication
Support for the Organization of the Seasonal Schools on Public Policy
The intern will actively contribute to the organization of several editions taking place during and after the internship period, including São Paulo (November 2026), Chiang Mai (December 2026), Doha (January 2027), and the Alps (February 2027).
Beyond these two areas, the intern may also be involved in various tasks related to IPPA’s other activities, including the organization of the future ICPP8 conference to be held in Rennes in July 2027, the 2027 Awards edition, the Association’s various networks, and more.
Please note that IPPA is not a research institute, therefore you won't be involved in any research activities during this internship.
Internship Period: 4- to 6-month internship starting from the end of August 2026 (exact dates will be confirmed jointly with the selected intern).
