 Ecuador is a relatively small country (283 561 km²) for Latin America, located on each side of the equatorial line on the Pacific shore. It is made of four different geographical areas: the Pacific Coast, the Andes Cordillera, the Amazon region and the Galapagos archipelago. Its population reaches 17 million people. The official languages are Spanish, Quichua and Shuar.


The capital city, Quito, was the first city to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is located at the heart of the Andes cordillera, surrounded by 12 volcanos including the Pichincha, Cotopaxi, Antisana, Cayambe which provide exclusive landscapes. Its historical center, which goes back to the Colonial era, is among the most extensive and best preserved in Latin America and the Caribbean. It hosts dozens of historical monuments, including many catholic churches, museums and official buildings open to the public.


Quito has an elevation of 2850 metres above see level, which makes it the second highest city capital in the world and it is also the closest city to the equator. The city has 2.2 million inhabitants and is divided into 5 districts: Northern, Center Northern, Historical Center, Southern and surrounding Valleys.


 IWPP2 will take place in FLACSO Ecuador, located in the center northern district. It isnice and secure area where visitors can enjoy exquisite food at affordable prices, go running around the Carolina Park and go for a walk across the residential areas surrounding FLACSO.
