Dr. Diane Bolet invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position within the ERC Starting Grant project (2026–2031):
The project analyses the attitudinal and electoral consequences of climate policies for fossil-fuel-dependent communities in France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Poland. It relies on a mixed-methods design combining focus groups, interviews, surveys, survey experiments, and quantitative text analysis.
We seek to appoint a highly motivated empirical political scientist with demonstrated potential to produce innovative and methodologically rigorous quantitative research in political behaviour and climate politics, with strong expertise in quantitative methods. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Political Science, Economics, or a related field.
The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with Dr. Bolet on the quantitative components of the project. They will benefit from the support of the CEE at Sciences Po, collaboration with the GREENLOSS research team, and integration into a broader international academic network.
Develop an ambitious and innovative research agenda in political behaviour, political economy, and/or survey and social science methodology, aligned with the themes of the GREENLOSS project.
Contribute to the design and analysis of cross-sectional and panel survey data, as well as local-level observational data.
Co-author academic and non-academic outputs from the project. Participate in the analysis of combined contextual and electoral datasets for project reports and publications.
Present findings at international conferences, contribute to the organisation of workshops, and support team meetings and events.
Contribute to the organisation of workshops: Assist in the planning and execution of workshops that facilitate knowledge sharing, skill development, and networking among stakeholders.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams: Work closely with different departments and teams to align project goals with organizational objectives, fostering a collaborative environment that enhances project outcomes.
No teaching duties but possibility of teaching one 24-hour module.
- To have submitted a PhD in political science, economics or related fields by Sept. 1st
- Strong background in comparative politics and electoral behaviour.
- Strong interest in European climate politics, climate policy, and comparative political research.
- Interest in the political economy of climate change is an asset.
- Strong quantitative background in survey analysis.
- Excellent understanding of causal inference techniques using contextual and panel survey data, particularly observational causal inference.
- Strong proficiency in R and/or Stata.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken) required.
- Desirable: command of German and/or Polish
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and contribute intellectually to the project.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a research team.
- Strong administrative rigor: Demonstrates attention to detail and adherence to administrative processes, ensuring compliance and accuracy in all tasks.
- Highly organized: Capable of managing multiple tasks and projects effectively, with a strong focus on prioritization and time management.
