International Review of Public Policy (IRPP) journal launch

International Review of Public Policy (IRPP) is a multidisciplinary open access journal dedicated to key theoretical, methodological, and/or empirical issues of public policy in different sectors, countries and regions of the world. IRPP is the new flagship journal of the most important world-wide association for public policy in the social sciences, the International Public Policy Association (IPPA).

The aims of the journal are to:

1. contribute and go beyond the fragmentation of the field of public policy to facilitate the exchange between the different approaches in public policy analysis and the study of the policy process,
2. build a common language and to contribute to the conversation among social scientists working on public policy, 
3. publish research that has high translation value –by this, we mean policy research that makes a broad range of findings available to policy-makers, civil society organizations, pressure groups and citizens concerned about policy issues.

The journal hosts contributions on theories of the policy process, empirical tests of models, agenda-setting, decisions, policy instruments, policy change, policy implementation, evaluation & policy appraisal, and a range of other social -scientific issues revolving around public policy.

IRPP publishes both comparative and single case studies. Methodologically, it is completely open to individual methods as well as to mixed methods. Ontologically, IRPP does not discriminate against any ontological presupposition. All disciplines contributing to public policy are welcome, such as, to mention a few, ethnography, economics, political science, socio-legal studies and sociology. The journal does not accept submission in the styles of journalism, political/policy commentary, explanation of legislation and courts decisions, and personal opinions.

At IRPP, submissions go through rigorous double-blind peer review. Submissions to the journal undergo an initial editorial screening and, when a submission is considered appropriate, it is reviewed by at least two referees. The Submission process is already open.

IRPP is a totally free online journal, free for the readers as for the authors, which will be published on a specific open access journal platform OpenEdition.org which hosted more than 480 journals. The journal will be financed by the individual and institutional membership. A subscription for a print version will be proposed to all IPPA members during the membership registration.

Coming Soon, the journal will propose also an open peer review process for the authors who are interested in it. 

The journal will contain also two specific sections: a section of Book Reviews to discuss the latest books published and a Forum Section to engage debates and controversies about Public Policy Studies. 

The first issue of the journal will appear in Spring 2019 and IRPP will contain 4 issues by year with 6 to 8 articles for each issue.
