The Nordic Policy Research Network is dedicated to advancing the understanding of policy stability and change, and to charting a comparative research agenda grounded in rigorous methods and conceptual and theoretical innovation. As Nordic democracy and governance evolve — amid rising political conflict, shifting patterns of participation, and mounting environmental, social, security, and economic challenges — we bring together scholars, policymakers, and practitioners to explore how policies emerge, endure, and change. Our work draws on empirical insights across policy areas and country comparisons, examining forces such as external pressures, actor coalitions, political opportunity structures, and the distinctive dynamics of the corporatist Nordic tradition, using innovative methodologies including interpretivist approaches and machine learning.

As a hub for Nordic policy research, we provide a platform for collaboration and policy-relevant insights, supporting knowledge-sharing through conferences, workshops, and an academic infrastructure that connects scholars across disciplines, institutions, and borders engaging scholars beyond the Nordics. We are committed to supporting early-career scholars, equipping the next generation of researchers with the tools to tackle pressing societal challenges. By building a strong and engaged Nordic policy research community, we aim to strengthen policy research in strategic areas and deliver evidence-based insights that inform decision-making and shape sustainable, effective, and innovative policies for the future.
