Bringing together scholars, policymakers, civil society actors, artists, and the broader public alongside the EUI community, these celebrations will offer a space for exchange and dialogue. Over the course of three days, we will engage with the defining challenges and opportunities of our time — from geopolitical tensions and the crisis of democracy to artificial intelligence and the climate emergency — while reflecting on the role of institutions, including civil society, in addressing them and in promoting fundamental values such as equity, inclusion, and academic freedom.

EUIdeas: The power of knowledge - 8 May 2026 (08:30-20:00), Badia Fiesolana

The first edition of our new research festival, EUIdeas, will bring together members of the EUI community and external participants to reflect on the role of knowledge in addressing Europe’s social and geopolitical challenges. The programme features a series of conversations inspired by the structural transformations shaping Europe’s present and future.

An exclusive evening offering the EUI community the opportunity to experience the exhibition ahead of its public launch.

Two evenings featuring immersive audiovisual experiences alongside access to the full exhibition.

The exhibition will then be open to the public on Mondays and Saturdays from 15:00 to 19:00 until 12 October.

Open Day at the Historical Archives of the European Union - 9 May 2026 (10:00 - 18:00), Villa Salviati
On the occasion of Europe Day and the EUI’s 50th anniversary, the Historical Archives will open its doors to the public. The programme includes guided tours of the villa and archival deposits, document readings, exhibitions, performances, and activities for all ages.
