The fourth edition of the International Summer School on Public Policy Venezia-Padova took place from 3 to 7 July 2023. 

The main objective of the Summer School is to provide advice and knowledge to Ph.D. students and young scholars on Public Policy theories, concepts, and methodologies to analyze public policy. 

In the course of 5 days, the Summer School offered its participants the opportunity to attend the following activities:

  • Lecture sessions held by internationally renowned scholars followed by an interactive discussion on specific topics
  • A Round Table with all the scholars
  • Workshops sessions that include the presentations of the research projects and discussion by students with the scholars and fellow students serving as discussants (45 minutes to 1h for each research project).

Three courses were given by internationally renowned scholars :

  • Policy capacity at the local level: theory and practice by Madeleine Pill (University of Sheffield)
  • Policy Capacity: A Conceptual Framework for Understanding Policy Competences and Capabilities by Mike Howlett (Simon Fraser University)
  • Generating policy capacity through collaboration with interest groups: advantages and pitfalls by Carsten Daugbjerg (Copenhagen University)
