The International Public Policy Association mourns the passing of Dr. Raúl Pacheco-Vega, Full Professor in the Methods Lab of the Latin American Faculty for Social Sciences (Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales, FLACSO) Sede Mexico. With Raúl’s passing, IPPA has lost one of its most loyal members, a distinguished scholar, and one of its earliest supporters.
Having joined in 2015, Raúl was a longstanding member of IPPA. He participated in all International Public Policy Workshops and was also planning to attend the Ottawa IWPP next July.
As a specialist on comparative public policy with a focus on environmental politics, Raúl is known for his contributions to the study of water governance, solid waste management, transnational social movements, industrial and urban restructuring and the spatial, human and political dimensions of public service delivery.
As a methodological pluralist he had a strong impact on the use of field experiments, institutional ethnography, multi-level modelling and social network analysis.
Raúl will also be greatly missed for his extensive editorial service to many journals in our disciplinary field of public policy.
The International Public Policy Association extends its condolences to Raúl’s family and colleagues.
A tribute will be paid at the International Public Policy Workshops in Ottawa.
