The Konstanz Methods Excellence Workshops (KOMEX) aim to democratize access to high-quality methods education, fostering an environment of inclusiveness and sustainability. KOMEX offers high-quality, pluralistic methods training for PhD students and early-career researchers across the social sciences. Convened by Eva Thomann, an international expert in case-oriented and set-theoretic methodology, the workshops are organized by the University of Konstanz in collaboration with MethodsNET and hosted by the Department of Politics and Public Administration and supported by the Cluster of Excellence “The Politics of Inequality.”

Courses are offered in four tracks: quantitative, computational, configurational, and qualitative methods, all available in both in-person and online formats. By avoiding air travel, maintaining low fees through a not-for-profit structure, and drawing on the exceptional methodological expertise at Konstanz and within the MethodsNET network, KOMEX makes advanced methods training more accessible across disciplines, backgrounds, and geographies.
