The School of Public Management, Governance and Public Policy (SPMGPP) is one of the six schools in the College of Business and Economics (CBE) at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), South Africa.

The SPMGPP has, since its inception, served as a flagship institution driving innovation in Public Administration, public governance, responsive policy design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation, as well as transformative leadership at all spheres of government in South Africa, Africa, and global institutions.

The school also operates at the Auckland Park Campus (APK) and Soweto Campus (SWC), where we provide a range of academic programmes, including Bachelors, Honours, Masters, and PhD Degrees in Public Management and Governance (PMG) and Public Leadership and Governance (PLG). The SPMGPP also offers a range of non-subsidised programmes (NSPs), including the Higher Certificates in Municipal Governance (NQF Level 5) and the Advanced Certificates in Municipal Governance (NQF Level 6). These NSP programmes are fully online.

Our commitment to quality education and impactful research is unwavering. Supported by our leadership in Pan-Africanism, South-South partnerships, and community engagement initiatives, our students gain valuable experience through hands-on projects, policy simulations, and collaboration with industry leaders.

The City of Johannesburg, a dynamic and diverse metropolis in Gauteng Province, serves as our living laboratory. This vibrant city offers unparalleled opportunities for experiential learning, allowing our students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings related to governance, service delivery, and public policy.
