LPPN Meeting Guadalajara

We are pleased to announce the convening of two special sessions under the auspices of the newly launched Leaders in Public Policy Network (LPPN) during the fourth International Workshop on Public Policy (IWPP4) in Guadalajara, Mexico, on June 26 and 27, 2024.

The LPPN is dedicated to fostering dialogue and collaboration among educators, administrators, and practitioners in the field of public policy education, particularly within Master of Public Policy (MPP) and MPP-adjacent programs. Building on the momentum of the previous Directors’ Dialogue in Toronto at ICPP6, these sessions aim to enhance our collective understanding of pedagogical and administrative challenges and opportunities in public policy education.

Session Themes and Topics

While the agenda is being developed, the sessions will focus on the following areas:

1.      Pedagogy: Exploring innovative approaches to teaching public policy across diverse linguistic and cultural contexts. The discussion will include strategies for integrating local case studies, adapting materials to local languages, and engaging with the unique challenges of teaching in the global south.

2.      Student Recruitment Trends: Examining current trends in student recruitment, the demographics of our applicant pools, and the implications for social mobility and diversity. This session will provide a platform for sharing strategies on scholarship allocation, selection processes, and attracting a wide range of applicants.
