How to get there

Aussois' ideal location at the border of the Vanoise National Park allows for transportation links with Grenoble, Geneva, Lyon, Turin, and Chambery. The best way to reach Aussois is from Modane, where you can take a shuttle at the bus station next to the railway (S52 Line between Modane and Sardière, more information here), or a taxi to Centre Paul Langevin, located at 24 rue du Coin, 73500, Aussois.

On Sundays, the bus from Modane's bus station to Aussois departs three times: at 9:05 AM, 2:00 PM, and 5:00 PM.

The Lyon–Modane and Turin–Modane railway lines have been fully reopened since March 2025. You can reach Modane by train from either Lyon or Turin via the Fréjus tunnel.

• By train: To reach Modane's train station (8 km from Aussois) from Paris, Lyon, and Turin, SCNF  and Trenitalia offer direct trains. You can book your train tickets directly on the rail company's website using the link provided above.

  • From Geneva to Modane, there are no direct trains; travelers must change either at Lyon (5h) or Chambéry (3h30–4h). The route is served by SNCF.

• By plane: the closest airports are Lyon, Turin, and Geneva.
• By car: take the A43 freeway to Modane (Le Freney)
