14th Interpretive Policy Analysis Conference (South American edition)

Universidade de Brasília (Brasil)

November 9-11, 2026

The 14th Interpretive Policy Analysis Conference, jointly organized by the Critical and Interpretive Policy Network and the Critical Policy Studies Network of the International Public Policy Association, will take place in 2026 in an exciting new format. For the first time, the conference will unfold across three interconnected editions in South America, Oceania, and Europe. This structure is designed to expand participation, deepen regional engagement, and strengthen our global scholarly community, while also embracing a more environmentally responsible model.

Over the past two decades, the Interpretive Policy Analysis (IPA) conferences have grown into a vibrant and distinctive intellectual community. They have significantly shaped international conversations on power, meaning-making, narratives, values, democratic practices, emotions, and qualitative methodologies in public policy research. What makes IPA truly unique is its exclusive focus on critical-interpretive scholarship. The conference is intentionally designed as an intimate event, creating generous space for in-depth discussion, thoughtful exchange, and genuine community-building.

That said, this webpage presents the South American edition, which will be held in Brasil, in Brasília, from November 9 to 11, 2026. Like the other two editions, it will be fully international in scope, and we warmly welcome participants from around the world. Please note that the working language is English.

In Brasília, the capital of Brazil, we are preparing a dynamic and inclusive gathering hosted by the Universidade de Brasília (UnB), a setting that offers both a creative and strong academic engagement. This edition is supported by The Critical Studies Policy Journal, Finatec (Fundação de Empreendimentos Científicos e Tecnológicos), ENAP (Escola Nacional de Administração Pública).
