Summer School - Nairobi Edition 2026

Eligibility Criteria

IPPA is pleased to announce that a limited number of grants will be available for participants whose applications have been accepted into the Nairobi Summer School.

This grant is specifically for PhD students or post-doctoral researchers who do not receive any financial support from their institution. It will cover a portion of the registration fees and of the accommodation costs. The remaining balance to be paid will be confirmed once the grant recipients have been selected.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Be a PhD or post-doctoral researcher
• Must not receive any funding from their university to attend the Summer School

Additional Travel Grant

Applicants whose application is accepted for the Summer School will also have the possibility to apply for an additional travel grant (up to a maximum of 500€). This grant will consist of the reimbursement of their flight tickets on presentation of proof of payment. The two grants (registration fee discount and travel grant) can be combined. 

The number of travel grants is limited and will be distributed exclusively for internal flights within Africa.

The deadline to apply for both the fees and travel grants is February 27, 2026.

Grant Selection Criteria

While these criteria are not exclusive, particular attention will be given to participants who meet all of the following requirements:

• The quality of their research project proposal (applications without a research abstract will not be considered).
• The participant's knowledge of public policy as demonstrated in their CV and research project.
• The participant's geographical location, with priority given to those coming from the same continent as the host country of the School.
• The participant's particular interest and motivation for their first-choice course.
