     Andrea PETTRACHIN - University of Padua

 

Andrea Pettrachin, PhD, is Assistant Professor in tenure track at the University of Padua (Italy). He holds a PhD in Politics awarded in 2020 by the University of Sheffield (UK), supervised by Prof. Andrew Geddes. He has previously worked as postdoctoral researcher in five European research projects at the European University Institute, the Collegio Carlo Alberto, the University of Turin and the University of Bologna. His research mostly focuses on migration policy and governance, across different governmental levels. He is particularly interested in policy formulation and adoption in the migration policy field, and the interlinks between policymaking processes and politicisation dynamics in the field of migration. As of January 2025, he has published a monograph with Palgrave Macmillan and 20 articles in international academic journals, including, among others, the Journal of European Public Policy, Policy SciencesPolicy StudiesGovernance, and the Journal of Comparative Policy Analysis. He has also contributed to several academic blogs, including the LSE Blog EUROPP, The Loop (ECPR Blog), The Compass Blog (Oxford), the EUI Blog ‘Debate Migration’ and the Mideq Blog. In 2025 he was awarded the Lasswell Prize for the best article published in Policy Sciences in 2024, for the article ‘Beyond Evidence-Based Policymaking? Exploring Knowledge Formation and Source Effects in US Migration Policymaking’ which appeared in Policy Sciences 57(1): 3-28 (March 2024).
