RGPP SCHOLARSHIPS

The CEU Democracy Institute, in partnership with the Roma Graduate Preparation Program (RGPP) and the Interpretive Policy Analysis (IPA) Conference 2027, is offering three scholarships for RGPP graduates to participate in the IPA 2027 Conference in Budapest, 13-15 January 2027.

SCOPE

Each scholarship includes:

A travel bursary of up to €250
Three nights' accommodation at the CEU Residence Centre
A full conference fee waiver

The three-day conference offers a rich program of keynote lectures, panel discussions sessions, five thematic workshops, research labs, field site visits, and a range of social and networking events, providing participants with opportunities to engage with leading scholars and practitioners working on critical and interpretivist policy research from around the world. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a Research Lab organized by the 2026/27 RGPP cohort: ‘Recreating citizenship in the classroom’ explores how Romani experiences can challenge dominant ideas of integration and citizenship by centering decolonial, feminist, and community-led approaches to knowledge production and education.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants should:

• Be a graduate of the CEU RGPP program.

• Submit (and be accepted) to present a paper at one of the conference workshops.

• Demonstrate a need for financial support, i.e. not have access to adequate institutional or grant funding.

Selection criteria

Applications will be assessed based on:

• Relevance and quality – how closely the applicant’s work aligns with conference and workshop themes.

• Career or community impact – the extent to which attending the conference would support the applicant’s professional development or provide a wider contribution.

• Financial need – priority given to applicants who would otherwise be unable to attend.

HOW TO APPLY

1. Submit your paper to the Call for Papers (open 17 July - 4 September 2026).

2. Indicate in your submission that you wish to be considered for the RGPP Scholarship.

3. Papers will be reviewed by the IPA Organizing Team following the Call for Papers deadline.

4. RGPP scholarship applications will be assessed alongside paper reviews, and applicants will be notified of the outcome before conference registration opens (1 October - 2 November 2026).
