Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Political Science would like to recruit a Lecturer/Associate Professor in Political Science to contribute to research and teaching. The new Lecturer will be expected to undertake research of the highest international standard to add to the research standing and culture of the Department.

The postholder will teach lectures and seminars at postgraduate and undergraduate level. 

The post will commence on the 1st July 2020.

 

Key Requirements

The successful candidate must have a PhD in Political Science or related subject (candidates nearing completion may be considered).

A proven ability to undertake academic research that is internationally recognised and of high-quality or evidence of potential for high quality academic research in a relevant field and experience of teaching in political economy or related modules at undergraduate or postgraduate level are essential.

Candidates seeking to be appointed at the Associate Professor (grade 9) level are expected to demonstrate that they have more significant experience and/or have made a substantial contribution to the advancement of their discipline through research.

 

The post will enable the Department to develop its research and teaching profile and the successful candidate MUST have substantive or regional expertise in one of the following areas:


• Artificial intelligence, technology and automation
• Global environmental politics/Climate change
• Migration
• Chinese politics/East Asian politics
