International Spring School on Public Policy - Denver Edition 2018

The application and selection of Ph.D. students and young scholars (less than three years after obtaining their Ph.D.) for the Spring School is based on the research project proposed by the students and young scholars.

  • Research project may include a potential publication, a dissertation proposal, a chapter/part of a dissertation, or other
  • The research project must be presented in a PDF document and should be approximately 3 pages long. Accepted students will be allowed to submit a longer version nearer the time of the Spring School.
  • In addition to a description of the research project, in the 3 pages, students must include a short statement (e.g., a paragraph) of how the research project relates to their current professional situation and career ambition.

Registration Fees and expenses

 Registration fee for the International Spring School is: 


  •  $550 / 445€ for IPPA Members (individuals and institutions).
  •  $650 / 525€ for non-IPPA member


Breakfast, lunch and two dinners are part of the tuition. The system calculate automatically your amount taking into account if you are or not IPPA members. After your validation, the system propose you to pay by credit card or by bank transfer. In case of bank transfer, your registration will be validate after we received the money. If you prefer to pay in US$, please contact us by email. 

Please note that the IPPA membership fee for 2017-2018 is € 35 for Ph.D. students and €105 for others 



Other expenses :

  • Students will pay their own airfare (estimated at $500 for North America students, $1300 outside of North America).


  • Dormitory rooms will be available at

     -$53/night (shared) or $318 (6 nights)

     -$70/night (single) or $420 (6 nights)

You would also find several Airbnb room/flat from $30 to $100. More information will be forthcoming for other lodging options.


Total estimated expenses for the students are the following:


for North American students, the estimated costs come to $1 520 ($500 airfare, 6 nights lodging $420, tuition $500, incidentals $100)

for students outside of North America, the estimated costs come to $2320 ($1300 airfare, 6 nights lodging $420, tuition $500, incidentals $100).



A grant is addressed to students who need it to come to Denver. This grant can cover up to 70% of the registration fees ($410 out of the $550).


Due to the limited fund, it will be a selective process without guarantee to accept all the requests. We will give the priority to participants who do not have support from their university and come from a far country.

Refund Policy

In the unfortunate event that you are unable to attend the International Springschool even after paying registration fees, reimbursements will be made according to the refund policy listed below:


Global refund policy:

    • IPPA membership fees cannot be refunded under any circumstances.
    • Before the 15th April 2018: 100% reimbursement.
    • Between 15th April and 1st May 201850% reimbursement of registration fees (including lunches).
    • After 1st May 2018NO reimbursements will be made.
    • Partial refunds are not possible.
    • If you have received a refund during the course of one payment period, you will not be able to re-register in the same payment period.
    • Special refund considerations can be made for people encountering visa problems or those with personal emergencies. However, proof will be required and the final decision lies with IPPA.
    • All disputes arising from the registration process will be subject to French law.
