I am a Reader (Associate Professor) at the University of Bath where I research on party competition and policy change (biotechnology, gender equality) and the comparative turn in public policy. My works appear in JEPP, EJPR, Regulation & Governance, RFSP, WEP and was awarded the 2012 APSA Best Comparative Policy Paper and the 2011 Carrie Chapman Catt Prize. I codirected volumes on morality politics in Western Europe (Engeli, Green-Pedersen and Thorup Larsen 2012) and comparative methods for public policy (Engeli and Rothmayr 2014). I serve as Lead Editor of Political Studies Review with David Cutts (from July 2017), as WG Leader on the COST ACTION “Professionalization and Social Impact of European Political Science”, and regularly advice governmental and third sector stakeholders.
My contribution to professional associations (ECPR, CES, ECPG), my research and institutional experience make me well equipped to make a valuable contribution to the IPPA College and advise as to how IPPA and the profession can best tackle deficiencies in inclusiveness, promote diversity, and enhance early-career professional experience at this challenging time for Higher Education. If elected, I would be keen to propose strategies for addressing gender and diversity inequalities and developing mentoring activities for early-career members of IPPA.
