I have been a professor of comparative public policy at the Université de Montréal since 2003. I have published my work in important public policy journals, including the Journal of Public Policy, Policy Studies Journal and Policy Sciences. I have authored several books; the latest in 2016 with Cambridge University Press (In Defense of Pluralism). In 2018, I will become co-editor of Governance (for more, visit http://www.ericmontpetit.ca/).
I have considerable administrative experience. In June of 2018, I will have completed a period of six years as chair of my department. I have served as secretary-treasurer of the Canadian Political Science Association between 2004-2010. In 2015, I co-organized the general conference of the ECPR in Montreal.
I would be honoured to serve on the College of the IPPA, hoping that my experience could help advancing the association’s goals. The creation of the IPPA was long overdue; no other association brings together such a concentration of excellent scholars who share a focus on general policy questions and/or apply a comparative approach. Through participation in the College, my hope would be to contribute to the success of future conferences and to build membership with other useful services.
