Greetings! I am a Professor of Public Administration in Punjabi University, Patiala, Punjab (India). I have keen interest in research in the area of public policy. I am motivated to apply for this College to highlight that Asia must be sufficiently represented in it because Asia is the world’s largest and most populous continent with enormous diversity among the regions it covers. Many countries like India in this part are zealously endeavoring through their people-oriented public policies to attain inclusive and rapid development and to free themselves from the clutches of poverty, hunger, widespread inequalities and backwardness. In any developing country, there are some common causative factors at play like scarce resources, lack of infrastructure, insensitive bureaucracy, low public acceptability and participation, resulting in poor implementation of the public policy. This diversity of perspectives from Asia will enrich the study of public policies the world over as their successes and even their failures can help us learn important lessons to experiment, be innovative with public policies in future. It will make public policy an exciting and potentially beneficial field of study for all. I wish to be a candidate to underline adequate representation of this area in IPAA. Thanks.
