About me and my motivation:
I, Pengyu Zhu, am an Associate Professor in the Division of Public Policy at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the Co-Director of the Master of Public Policy Program at HKUST. I am also a leading scholar with my work published in major academic journals. My work in the field of Regional Science has been acknowledged and I was awarded the 25th Charles M. Tiebout Prize in Regional Science in 2011 and the Regional Science Springer Prize in 2014. Over the years, I have also led or participated in many projects on transportation and economic development in the U.S. and China, with funding from various organisations including Policy Innovation and Co-ordination Office (Hong Kong), National Center for Metropolitan Transportation Research (USA), Natural Science Foundation of China, and many provincial and municipal governments in China.
I am interested in becoming a member of the College of Association in order to serve the public policy community better and bridge the gap between academia and public policy makers in Asia. Also, I want to leverage my knowledge and experience gained over the years to highlight the importance of evidence-based policy making in Asia, thereby contributing to the larger society.
