My name is Atsuo Sato. I am a professor at Kyushu University in Fukuoka,
Japan, where I teach public policy and policy analysis for graduate
students. I am also engaged in the Graduate Program of Interdisciplinary
Policy Analysis and Design as a sub-leader. My master’s degree is in public
policy, and my Ph.D. in human security from the University of Tokyo. Prior
to my academic endeavors at the university, I worked for the Japanese
government and assisted governments in Asia and Africa as a practitioner
in capacity development of public policy and management. My research
background is in governance, especially collaborative governance and co-
creation in developed countries as well as fragile and failed states. I have
taken part in ICPP3 in Singapore and ICPP5 (online) in Barcelona, and will
be attending ICPP6 in Toronto. I have learned a great deal not only from
the conference panels but also from the participants, and I hope that the
IPPA and ICPP will continue to move forward with the same openness and
diversity as before. To this end, I would like to contribute to the IPPA’s
reflection of voices from the global community.
