How to travel to Guadalajara ?

Guadalajara by Airplane

Guadalajara International Airport is a major airport for connections, serving as a hub for Volaris, Aeroméxico, and VivaAerobus, and the primary gateway to the United States. Direct international flights are established with the United States (25 cities), Latin America (Panama with Copa Airlines, Bogotá with VivaAerobus), and Europe (Madrid with Aeromexico).

People from other destinations could take a first flight to Mexico, with which the Guadalajara airport has several connections (1h30 from Mexico City).

Please make sure to read the following information carefully before you purchase your ticket: If you have a layover in Mexico, we advise planning for a minimum of 2h30 to 3hrs for your layover. Immigration process can be time-consuming (between 1 to 2 hours), and Mexico City Airport has two separate terminals, with limited transportation between them. Therefore, we recommend double-checking which terminal you arrive at and which one you'll be departing from for your connecting flight, and factoring in the transit time between the two terminals when planning your layover.

We also advise you to compare prices between purchasing your tickets all at once (i.e., buying your flight to Mexico and your connecting flight to Guadalajara via the same airline) and just buying a flight to Mexico and separately purchasing a ticket for the Mexico City to Guadalajara leg. Sometimes, it's more cost-effective to buy the second ticket separately since many low-cost carriers offer flights between Mexico City and Guadalajara, such as VivaAerobus or Volaris, with tickets ranging from 40 to 80 euros (prices as of 23/02).

From the airport to the center of Guadalajara.

The Airport is around 21km away from the city center, which corresponds to a 30-minute drive.

To reach the Guadalajara downtown area, you can take a taxi. We advise you at the time of booking your hotel to inquire if they can arrange your transfer between the airport and the hotel. Many hotels offer this service, and notably, our partner hotels have taxis available to pick you up. The price is approximately 400 pesos (around 22€/23$).

While Uber, Cabify, and Didi operate in the city area, these applications are not allowed to pick people from the airport (only drop off).
